Athens food tour: Varvakios market and downtown tavernas

A full meal of tastings across downtown Athens

The walk runs through the Varvakios meat, fish and produce market and speciality shops for olive oil, wine, cheese and cured meats, with stops for koulouri, loukoumades, pies and fresh coffee.

It ends in the historic centre with mezze at a taverna and a classic souvlaki pita, with local wine, ouzo and tsipouro. Plan it as a meal, not a snack.
