Karlštejn is the closest of the great Bohemian castles, about 45 minutes from Prague: towers stepped up a wooded hill above a single village street. Charles IV founded it in 1348 to guard the imperial regalia and his collection of relics.

Six hours door to door leave more than four at Karlštejn: the walk up, a castle tour if you have booked one, and lunch in the village. Your driver waits below and brings you back to your Prague address.

    Cars can't go up to the castle. Your driver drops you at the foot of the village, and the castle is a steady 20 to 30-minute walk uphill. Interiors are seen only on the castle's own timed tours, best booked ahead.

Questions

Is the driver a guide?

No. Your driver is local and knows the route, but is not a licensed guide and does not guide inside museums or monuments.

Can we choose the stops?

Yes. The stops are suggestions. Agree with your driver at pickup which ones you want time at; the day has to fit the booked hours and traffic.

Are entrance tickets and meals included?

No. Sights are ticketed separately and meals are your own. Your driver waits while you visit or eat.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 24 hours before pickup for a full refund.

Can we finish somewhere other than our hotel?

Yes. The ride can end at any address in the city, such as a restaurant for dinner. Tell us when you book.
