Eight centuries of Dutch art, with The Night Watch at the centre
The Gallery of Honour leads to one painting: Rembrandt's The Night Watch. Its largest-ever restoration is happening live, in view of visitors.
Beyond Rembrandt, Vermeer and Frans Hals, the museum tells Dutch history through Delftware, ship models, Asian art, clothing and everyday objects.
It is big: two to four hours go quickly. Plan a half day, ideally with the Van Gogh Museum a five-minute walk away.
