Van Gogh's whole story, in his own paintings and words

Over 200 paintings, 500 drawings and 750 letters trace Van Gogh's path from his sombre early Dutch work to the prolific final months in Auvers. Sunflowers, Almond Blossom and The Potato Eaters hang here, beside the letters in which he explains what he was trying to do.

It is a timed-entry ticket, not a tour: give it a couple of unhurried hours. Three temporary exhibitions a year run alongside the collection.

The Starry Night and Café Terrace at Night are in New York and Paris. Amsterdam gives the fuller, more personal picture of how he got there.
